Run Mama, Run: W4D1 Fail

I was pretty sleepy after work yesterday but I went to the gym anyway. I told myself “today is W4D1, I can do this”

My legs (and shins) had other plans.

I did the 3 minute run fine. I did the 5 minute run with the normal amount of “oh crap, I’m tired”. I did the next 3 minute run and my legs were crying. I tried to do the next 5 minute run and nope. Could not do it. I thought my legs were going to give out and I’d fall on my face onto the treadmill. I managed to go 1.6 miles in 25 minutes (the same as on Sunday) so it wasn’t completely a bust.

I was in a lot of pain but I’m a proud person and couldn’t let people see me limp away from the treadmill and then from the gym. So I sucked it up and casually got the hell outta there. Once I got in my car, it was a different story. I cried and rubbed my legs like I just got beat up by a bully. I’m a tough chick, ya know.

When I got home I did what any tough chick does after a work out: I wined to my mother and put ice on my legs.

Once I was done with the ice, my son (3 years old) told me his legs were broken and he needed ice. :-)

I’m not feeling too bad today. A little sore but nothing too painful. I shall try again tomorrow.
Current Score: W4D1: 1 Hadiyah: 0.

don't get discouraged...slow the treadmill down and have another go. Week 4 day 1 was my worst too, I got home and collapsed in a heap. So I spent some time reading the c25k forums and realised I was probably running too fast. I slowed down for the next run and it was much better.

Thanks for the advice. I definitely will go slower this time. Hopefully today will go better than Monday.

Hi! I found you via googeling for W4D1 :-)
I had my first W4D1 run yesterday (hopefully I wont need to redo the whole programme, have dropped out before after week 2).
I never ran on a treadmill but I agree with scooby087: slow down. I get really slow and I don't care as long as I finish the workout.

No idea though if you continued running at all?
;-)
